In an effort to spread cheer to Airmen across the base, the McConnell Officers' Spouses' Club and McConnell Enlisted Spouses' Club teamed up, Dec. 4, here.

The clubs collected and distributed thousands of cookies to Airmen in the dorms and to work centers around base.

"The amount of cookies we receive is a statement on how we feel about our heroes who are away from their families," said Krystal Heasley, MESC social chair. "Operation Cookie Drop shows that there is a great love and support for our troops."

Local elementary school students decorated each bag, and the volunteers filled them with various types of cookies.

"I loved being part of the McConnell Cookie Drive because it starts the holiday season by giving back," said Lindsay Gathmann, MOSC scholarships co-chair. "Cookies make everyone happy, and if we can put a smile on one Airman's face who can't make it home for the holidays, then we have succeeded!"
