The Airman and Family Readiness Center will hold a school supply giveaway for the 22nd Air Refueling Wing’s E-5 and below active duty members and their dependents, July 18-22, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., in Bldg. 338.

Supplies will be given to dependents ranging from preschool through high school age. Some college materials are also available for Airmen who are going to school.

The Airman and Family Readiness Center holds this event annually to help Airmen and their families handle the financial burden of a new school year.

“This started several years ago to help Airmen with families,” said Dennis Chrisco, 22nd Force Support Squadron community readiness consultant. “It can get expensive to have kids in school, and it can be harder for lower-ranking Airmen. We’re just trying to make sure their needs are met and help them out as much as we can.”

Providing Airmen and their families with supplies can allow them to save some of their money.

“It’s a way to show our appreciation for what they do and to give a little back so they can do something fun with their families during the summer,” said Mary Reece, 22nd FSS Airman and Family Readiness Center chief.

The supplies will be bought with money donated by the community through the Friends of McConnell organization.
