MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. -- The annual Air Force Ball for Team McConnell is scheduled for 6 p.m., Sept. 10, at the Hyatt Regency in Wichita.

“The Air Force Ball is a time-honored tradition where we celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the United States Air Force on Sept. 18, 1947,” said Maj. Pedro Colón, 22nd Medical Support Squadron diagnostics and therapeutics flight commander and Air Force Ball committee chairperson.

This year’s ball will honor the KC-135 Stratotanker’s 60 years of service and recognize the Airmen who have shaped the air refueling mission. The guest speaker for the event will be Gen. Darren W. McDew, U.S. Transportation Command commander.

“I'm excited about this year because our theme is ‘Honoring the Heritage of the KC-135,’ providing us an opportunity to reflect and appreciate the significant contributions this aircraft and McConnell Air Force Base have made to refueling the fight over the last six decades,” said Colón.
