'Club Med' McConnell

MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. --  Recently, I was planning a vacation for my family when I came across an advertisement for Club Med Caribbean Resorts.

As I read the resort summary, I was amazed at the number of exciting amenities each resort offered. They had swimming pools, tennis courts, racquetball courts, bowling, volleyball, two sports bars, movie theater, Frisbee golf, fishing ponds, golf driving range and padded running tracks. They had a babysitting service right on the resort property that would watch your children for four hours per day.

This Club Med resort offered a world class gym with an exercise physiologist and several personal trainers. The gym had treadmills, bikes, elliptical trainers, free weights, rowing machines and even a massage therapist on staff.

They offered classes in martial arts, fitness, arts and crafts, video games and chapel services. Club Med even had weight loss classes that were supervised by a certified dietician.

As I read on, several other enticing services were offered. Club Med boasted an air tight security system that only allows authorized guests onto the property.

Several restaurants were open to guests for their dining pleasure. Shopping and banking services were also available. This Club Med resort offered a no-cost medical clinic right on the premises with dental, psychiatric, optometry, physical therapy and pharmacy services. All the dentists and physicians were fully licensed and board certified.

The Club Med tour director offered field trips to see the local sites and culture. Discount tickets to shows and concerts could be purchased with ease. Regular entertainment, bingo games and banquets were offered in their large dining/concert hall. You could rent boats, bikes, canoes, all-terrain vehicles and gardening equipment from their rental center. Paint ball and remote control car racing were also popular activities. Those with an adventurous spirit could camp beside the lake or hook up a recreational vehicle/camper.

Best of all, the entire staff was passionate about their mission and providing the best possible support to their guests. As I reflected on all the exciting services offered at Club Med, I realized that except for the beach, Team McConnell has all the same amenities and much more.

So the next time you are planning a vacation, consider Club Med McConnell. Or at the very least, step back from time to time and enjoy all the great services available at McConnell. We got it good.
