AMC commander sends Thanksgiving message Published Nov. 15, 2007 By Gen. Arthur Lichte, commander Air Mobility Command SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Our nation has much to be thankful for when it pauses Nov. 22 to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. As my wife, Chris, and I reflect on our long list of blessings, we are especially thankful for you and your families - the men and women of Air Mobility Command. You make a difference in people's lives every day. I know the survivors of the Tsunami in 2004, Hurricane Katrina and the Pakistani earthquake in 2005, and the recent southern California wildfires are very thankful for the relief you delivered. You are often the first to arrive and provide comfort to thousands of displaced people around the world. You are also engaged in the Global War on Terror. Through hostile territory, you deliver cargo to the right place at the right time. You reduce exposure of ground forces to hostile fire by delivering mine resistant ambush vehicles and reduce the number of convoys on the road through intra-theater airlift. You help power the skies as you fuel U.S. and coalition aircraft. And, your efforts save lives through the aeromedical evacuation mission. This command is always in motion and firmly in the fight. You've faced challenges, as you accomplish your missions with fewer people and older aircraft, but your ingenuity, hard work, compassion, sacrifice and can-do attitude have the men and women of Air Mobility Command standing at the forefront of our nation achieving its military objectives. On this holiday, and every day, be proud of your accomplishments and the safety and security you provide our fellow Americans and peace-loving people everywhere. Rest assured, they - like Chris and I - are very thankful for you and your families. Happy Thanksgiving!
