Sergeant Sperry has served in the Air Force for six years. He has been stationed at McConnell for four months. His hobbies include off-roading, fly fishing, traveling and an interest in hot-rods.

What would you like to accomplish during your Air Force Career?
My primary goal is to finish my bachelor's degree and pursue a commission in the Air Force.

Where is the most interesting place you have traveled, and why do you feel that way?
The most interesting place is Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. Getting the chance to live and explore a sparsely populated, remote area and one of the last, great wildernesses in America was an awesome three years of my life in comparison with growing up in populated southern California.

What is your favorite book or movie and why?
The last book I read that I really enjoyed was "Not a Good Day to Die: The Untold Story of Operation Anaconda." I enjoyed it because it really identifies a lot of the problems with the structure of and communication between the various organizations in modern U.S. military. It also shows how heroes emerge from the individuals we work with everyday to ensure missions don't collapse when planning goes out the window.

If you had the opportunity to meet anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
I can't think of anyone alive off the top of my head, but living or dead, it would have to be Thomas Jefferson. I would love to sit down with the most influential of our forefathers and discuss his thoughts on the direction of U.S. democracy and society in relation to his original ideas.
