Airman 1st Class Deanna Willis, 22nd Medical Operations Squadron aerospace medical technician, was selected as the spotlight performer for the week of Oct. 5 through 11. Willis, a Charleston, South Carolina native, joined the Air Force in January 2013 and has been a member of Team McConnell since September 2013. As an aerospace medical technician, Willis is responsible for all things relating to patient care. When she's not on duty, she enjoys fishing, shopping, and spending time with family and friends. "Since arriving, she has demonstrated a take-charge attitude that gets tasks done quickly and efficiently," said Tech. Sgt. Chad Pease, 22nd MDOS aerospace medical technician. "She has taken on several clinic and off base programs, such as leading her team in the absence of her NCO in charge. She is also a point of contact for a hospice program. She sets up training and coordinates visits for volunteers to support terminally ill veterans." Who is the most positive influence in your life and why? The most positive influence on my life would have to be my parents, because they've taught me right from wrong, and made me learn from my own mistakes instead of fixing everything for me. If you could give advice to a new Airman, what would it be and why? The advice I would give a new Airman would be that when new opportunities arise, take them, because they may not be around again. What is one goal that you have already accomplished, or would like to accomplish, during your Air Force career? One goal I'm working toward, is accomplishing my Bachelor's in Nursing. Where is the most interesting place you have traveled and why do you feel that way? The most interesting place I've traveled would have to be the Great Smoky Mountains, because I love the scenery and the culture. If you had the opportunity to meet anyone in the world, who would it be and why? If I had an opportunity to meet anyone in the world, it would probably be George Jones, because I grew up listening to his music.
