As a spotlight performer, individuals are chosen by leadership for demonstrating the Air Force's Core Values: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do.

Airman 1st Class David Bernal Del Agua, 22nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs photojournalist, was selected as the spotlight performer for the week of June 22 through 28.

Bernal Del Agua, a Lake Worth, Florida native, joined the Air Force in May 2013 and has been a member of Team McConnell since January 2014.

As a photojournalist, he writes articles and produces imagery that highlights McConnell and its Airmen. When he's not on duty, he enjoys playing beach volleyball and coaching a little league baseball team.

"Bernal Del Agua is a self-motivator, the only motivation he seems to need is a 'good job,' or a pat on the back," said 1st Lt. Jessica Brown, 22nd ARW chief of public affairs. "Although he's only been in my office for a few months now, his work ethic and eagerness to accomplish the mission successfully is contagious."

Who is the most positive influence in your life and why?

The most positive influence in my life has been my family. My family has continually supported me throughout my life and throughout all the things that I try. They are the reason I have accomplished so much in my life.

If you could give advice to a new Airman, what would it be and why?

If I could give advice to a new Airman, it would be to strive to finish their CDCs and complete their education. Once your Career Development Courses are out of the way, you can focus on the next step in your career and having an education will take anyone far.

What is one goal that you have already accomplished, or would like to accomplish, during your Air Force career?

One goal that I would like to accomplish during my Air Force career is to become a commissioned officer. I have always wanted to become an officer since I was in high school and accomplishing that goal would be a great personal success.

Where is the most interesting place you have traveled and why do you feel that way?

The most interesting place I have traveled to was Cuba. Going to Cuba was a shock because it is such a different country from the U.S.

If you had the opportunity to meet anyone in the world, who would it be and why?

If I had the opportunity to meet anyone in the world, I would like to meet the Wright Brothers. They invented the airplane and without that, the world would look very different from what it looks like today.
