Retired Col. Peter Giroux, a B-52 pilot and POW, poses for a photo Dec. 19, 2016, at McConnell Air Force Base, Kan. Giroux was taken as a prisoner of war by the North Vietnamese on December 22, 1972.Giroux was eventually returned to flying status and returned to B-52’s aircraft again serving as a Aircraft commander, flight commander and instructor pilot.
