Four F-16 Fighting Falcon Thunderbirds fly in a formation April 18, 2020, through the skies of Colorado. The traditional multirole fighter aircraft has a limited range due to the smaller airframe and requires aerial refueling support to reach further distances. An F-16 Fighting Falcon Thunderbird is in a refueling holding pattern April 18, 2020. Six F-16’s received fuel from a KC-135 Stratotanker assigned to the 349th Air Refueling Squadron, McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas, enroute to Colorado. The flyovers allowed the Thunderbirds to showcase the Air Force’s support and gratitude to the heroes that continue to support the frontlines in the fight against COVID-19.
