Golf course 2
Lt. Col. Scott Meeker, 22nd Services Squadron commander, speaks about the possible fate of the Twin Lakes Golf Course, March 6, during a meeting in the golf course snack bar. In August 2006, Air Mobility Command recommended closing the course because it needed several repairs in order to be playable and profitable. Since then, the 22nd SVS has been working to keep Twin Lakes open; however, the squadron needs more help from golfers. When people play golf at Twin Lakes, the services squadron earns money to put back into the maintenance and upkeep of the course. Services plans to repair the course’s greens in April, install new driving range equipment in May and begin fertilizing the course more frequently throughout the year to make it more enticing to golfers. Nonetheless, services needs to turn a profit to properly maintain the course. People can help keep the course open by playing more rounds of golf and frequenting the course’s snack bar.
