Senior Airman Juan Ramirez, 22nd Civil Engineer Squadron firefighter, prepares a Firehawk M7 Air Mask for a fit test at the fire station Sept. 7, 2011, McConnell Air Force Base, Kan. After more than five years in the Air Force, Ramirez reenlisted today, adding another four years and eight months to his time in service. With his reenlistment the same day the Patriot Day Ceremony, Ramirez felt reenlisting today, along with the ceremony, was a fitting tribute to the tragic events of 9/11. "It’s important to remember the selfless acts that regular, everyday Americans made that day," said Ramirez. "They weren’t just military, but civilian emergency response personnel and bystanders as well." (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Laura L. Valentine)
