Local landowners help save lives

Doug Watson, McConnell neighboring landowner, pets Vasi, a border collie for the Bird Aircraft Strike Hazard program July 9, 2010, McConnell Air Force Base, Kan. Using the dog to help relocate birds from property surrounding McConnell’s flight line is one of the most cost-effective methods for the BASH program, and has helped reduce the number of bird strikes by one-third.
