MCCONNELL Air Force Base, Kan.-- “Doc” will be one of many static displays set up during the 2007 McConnell Open House Air Show July 14-15. The B-29 Superfortress “Doc,” named after the “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” tale, was built in Wichita in December 1944 and released for military use in 1945. The B-29 was said to be the most sophisticated, propeller-driven bomber to fly during World War II. McConnell’s Open House will also showcase several aerial demonstrations including the Navy Blue Angels and the Army Golden Knights.
