WICHITA, Kan. -- Navy Cmdr. Michael Boettcher salutes as he is piped aboard by Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class Robert Cooke during his retirement, March 14, after 34 years of distinguished military service. Observing naval tradition, the ceremony was held at the Naval Operational Support Center in Wichita. Commander Boettcher began his military career serving four years enlisted in the Air Force. After he earned a bachelor of science in accounting, he was accepted in the Navy flight program.
