McConnell Airmen assist in Operation Freedom Memorial

A bronze statue of a Soldier looking at a “battlefield cross” helps comprise the Operation Freedom Memorial in the Veteran’s Memorial Park, May 18, 2014, in Wichita, Kansas. The monument is a symbol of tribute to Kansas fallen service members from Operation Desert Storm to current, ongoing conflicts in the war on terrorism and was built by the OFM Foundation, Inc. with donations and help of several local businesses and volunteers.
