Hydraulics Airmen enter the KC-135 "hellhole"
Staff Sgt. Logan Schiermeyer, 22nd Maintenance Squadron hydraulics systems craftsman, ascends stairs towards the tail access compartment on a KC-135 Stratotanker during an isochronal inspection Dec. 2, 2020, at McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas. The boom hoist unit, located inside the tail access compartment, enables the boom hoist cable to lift and lower the boom, and it is serviced every two years during an isochronal inspection.
