Erosion Control Study

Kansas State University students Jorge Serrana (left), Josh Wurtz (center) and Daryline Dayzie painstakingly collect splinter-sized invertebrates from McConnell Creek on June 16, 2022, at McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas. The collection assessed the health of the river's aquatic population base before the KSU team began modifications to the creek's shoreline as part of their erosion control study. The McConnell portion of this KSU study is part of a partnership between KSU, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and McConnell Air Force Base. (U.S. Air Force photo by John Van Winkle)
