Wichita’s Flying Brothers: where McConnell got its name
Anna McConnell pins pilot's wings on her three sons Fred, Edwin and Thomas. In 1954, Wichita Air Force Base was formally renamed to McConnell AFB in honor of Fred and Thomas, who both died while serving. In 1999, base officials added Edwin's name to the installation after his death. (Courtesy Photo)
