  • McConnell first to test KC-46 NVG flights

    A 344th Air Refueling Squadron aircrew from McConnell Air Force Base was the first KC-46 Pegasus crew to conduct operational test flights using night vision goggles.

    The KC-46A Pegasus has come a long way since being accepted by the Air Force in January 2019. After its arrival, the KC-46 and the Airmen of McConnell have completed various stages of familiarization training, which helped educate the Air Force’s future KC-46 installation by developing new techniques and integration plans. This training has enabled Team McConnell to begin operationally refueling.
  • KC-46 First operational refueling

    MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. – A KC-46A Pegasus out of McConnell completed the airframe’s first operational refueling May 7, 2019. While in formation with a KC-10 Extender from Travis Air Force Base, the KC-46 offloaded 30,000 pounds of fuel to four F-16 Fighting Falcons on their way to an exercise at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.
