Legal service is available to active duty personnel, retirees, and dependents.  Additionally, members of the Guard (Title 10 status only) and Reserve members on active duty orders are also eligible.

CIVIL LAW DIVISION

Legal and claims assistance can be obtained at the McConnell Law Center located in Building 810. For assistance, call (316) 759-3590 or DSN 743-3590.

For claims, the DD Form 1840/1840R must be submitted to the carrier within 70 days after delivery of a houshold goods shipment. This process can now be done online at https://claims.jag.af.mil or through the DPS move  http://www.move.mil. The online process only applies to Air Force sponsored moves. Members having trouble filing online may contact the McConnell Law Center. Questions regarding the process may be address to the Air Force Claims Service Center at 1-877-754-1212.

MILITARY JUSTICE DIVISION

The Military Justice Division provides guidance to commanders on nonjudicial punishment proceedings, courts-martial, and other adverse actions.  Contact (316) 759-3590 or DSN 743-3590 for assistance. 

LEGAL ASSISTANCE

Legal assistance attorneys can assist with civil issues that are not adverse to the Air Force and can also draft estate planning documents, such as wills, living wills, healthcare powers of attorney, and general powers of attorney. Legal assistance is available by appointment only; please call (316) 759-3590 to schedule. Notary services and powers of attorney are available on a walk-in basis.

To complete your will or power of attorney:

1. Complete the worksheet online at https://aflegalassistance.law.af.mil. After completing the worksheet, you will receive a case-sensitive ticket number. 

2. Call the McConnell Law Center to make an appointment for legal assistance, and provide the front desk your ticket number.  This enables the attorney to view the information you inputted and draft your documents.

Legal assistance attorneys cannot represent you in court.  Further, legal assistance is prohibited in the following areas:

  • Issues involving personal commercial enterprises;
  • Criminal issues under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) or state/federal criminal law (contact the Area Defense Counsel at (316) 759-4375 or DSN 743-4375 for assistance);
  • Standards of Conduct issues;
  • Law of Armed Conflict issues;
  • Official matters in which the U.S. Air Force has an interest or is involved in the final outcome; and
  • Representation of the client in a court or administrative proceeding.

MCCONNELL SEXUAL ASSauLT AND PREVENTION & RESPONSE OFFICE

The Department of Defense does not tolerate sexual assault and has implemented a comprehensive policy that reinforces a culture of prevention, response and accountability that ensures the safety, dignity and well-being of all members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

VICTIM WITNESS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The McConnell AFB Victim Witness Assistance Program (VWAP) is available to victims or witnesses of a crime who suffer physical, financial or emotional trauma. The McConnell AFB VWAP coordinator can be reached at (316) 759-3591.
