Col. Jonathan G. Downing is the Commander, 22nd Maintenance Group, 22nd Air Refueling Wing, McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas, where he is responsible for over 1,200 officer, enlisted and civilian members comprising 12 Air Force specialty codes and oversees maintenance of 35 KC-135 Stratotankers and 6 KC-46 Pegasus' with an associated value over $2.9 billion. Additionally, he is responsible for supporting deployments and contingency operations including Operation Enduring Freedom and the Global War on Terror.

In his previous assignment, Col. Downing was the Chief of Repair Network Integration (RNI) Program Management Office (PMO), Headquarters Air Force Material Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. He was responsible for developing and implementing processes that establish enterprise-level management of repair.

Col. Downing received his commission from the United States Air Force Academy and attended Maintenance Officer training at Sheppard AFB, Texas.
