Colonel Dean K. Farrey commands the 22d Medical Group at McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas. Col Farrey provides operational command and control over two squadrons consisting of 276 personnel in a 90,000 square foot facility serving 12,000 beneficiaries with an annual operating budget of $12,000,000. He advises the wing commander, wing staff agencies, and three group commanders on medical contingency planning and all matters relating to medical care and readiness.
Colonel Farrey is originally from Benton, Wisconsin. He received a direct commission in 2001 and began serving in the Medical Service Corps (MSC) in 2002. He has held a variety of different positions within the medical service and MSC career field, including service as Squadron Commander, Clinic Administrator, Deputy Information Services Division Chief at the Air Force Medical Operations Agency, Group Practice Manager,
Group and Wing Executive Officer, EMEDS Administrator, War Reserve Material Chief, Information Systems Flight Commander and Resource Management Fight Commander. He has joint experience in operational environments with Army and Navy personnel. His most recent assignment was the Chief, Medical Support Division at AFMC. Colonel Farrey is married and has two sons.
