The 2012 Wings over McConnell Open House and Air Show will be held Sept. 29 and 30.

The two-day event will showcase the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and the U.S. Army's Golden Knights as well as various military and civilian displays.

With thousands of visitors expected to visit McConnell during the event, the 22nd Security Forces Squadron would like to remind visitors that although they are welcome, certain items are not.

The following items are prohibited on base:

  • Weapons - regardless of permit, to include firearms and knives
  • Alcoholic beverages - except those sold by vendors
  • Pets - other than service animals
  • Glass containers
  • Ice chests and coolers (expect small coolers for medical or infant formula purposes)
  • Bags larger than a small purse or fanny pack
  • Backpacks and Camelbacks
  • Bicycles, roller skates, roller blades, roller shoes, skateboards, kick or electric scooters
All bags, ice chests and coolers are subject to search prior to entry to the spectator area.

Items permitted include, but are not limited to:

Medical, diaper and camera bags, small in size
Wheelchairs, strollers or pull-along wagons

All items are subject to search prior to entry to the spectator area.

"When you limit the items that people can bring in," said 1st Lt. Michael Morgan, 22nd Security Forces operations officer, "it limits the items that criminals could use to conceal deadly weapons into an area that has a high concentration of people. We are going to do our best to keep the area secure."
