Beginning June 1, all 22nd Medical Group beneficiaries are required to use the Tricare Online Patient Portal Secure Messaging System for appointments and non-urgent health care needs to help improve communication between patients and their health care team.

Patients will still be able to call the appointment telephone line for urgent health issues, but all other callers will be directed to the online portal.

"Utilizing the TOL Patient Portal Secure Messaging System allows the beneficiary to send messages 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year,” said Capt. Tracy Krayer, base disease manager and point of contact for Patient Portal Secure Messaging. It eliminates the game of ‘phone tag’ increases the ability for beneficiaries to contact their provider team.”

Information and messages exchanged on the portal are only accessible to the patient and health care providers. The portal establishes a secure connection to ensure all personal information is encrypted.

“This system also allows the beneficiary to send and receive documents, reducing time spent away from their duty areas or using leave to drop off or pick up items from the clinic,” said Krayer. “Our goal in changing the way we communicate is to provide barrier-free, timely, effective, and quality resolutions to our patients' health care needs."

To register for a Secure Messaging account, visit https://app.mil.relayhealth.com, or contact Flight Medicine or the Family Health front desk. There will also be a live enrollment kiosk in the pharmacy waiting area May 22 -June 2.
