The 22nd Air Refueling Wing is currently running the annual Combined Federal Campaign until Jan. 15, 2024.

The CFC is a campaign that provides a cost effective and user friendly avenue for federal employees to donate to their favorite charities.

“CFC is important because it gives military members a channel to support a cause they might have wanted to but didn’t have the ways and mean to go about it,” said Master Sgt. Brian Bunch, 22nd ARW CFC co-coordinator. “There are ways to give to causes, but the CFC is a safe and secure means of support.”

This year, the wing has a goal to raise $20,000 and make 100 percent contact with military and civilian federal employees under the theme “Give Happy.”

“I think ‘Give Happy’ has two meanings,” Bunch said. “The first meaning is about projecting happiness by supporting a cause that needs assistance. The second is about giving yourself a happy feeling by supporting a cause that you feel strongly about.”

There are four options for those who are interested in donating. They can make a pledge online, complete a paper pledge form, use the CFC Giving mobile app, or text “Donate” to (978) 487-5678. Federal employees also have the option to pledge volunteer hours to charities that accept them. For more information about each option, visit https://givecfc.org/donors/how-to-give.

The CFC is estimated to work with over 20,000 nonprofit charitable organizations worldwide, providing federal employees the peace of mind that their donation is going to a legitimate cause.

“Before 1982, solicitors were taking advantage of service members by constantly asking for donations to unvetted charities,” said Tech. Sgt. Korey Gibson, 22nd ARW CFC co-coordinator. “The CFC campaign offers a safe space for service members to donate to charities of their choice.”

According to the CFC website, the campaign has raised nearly $8.7 billion for charities and those in need since its inception, making it one of the world’s largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaigns.

“Just give,” Gibson said. “You never know who you may be helping out.”
