Tech. Sgt. Mark Hellwig, 22nd Air Refueling Wing Flight Safety NCO, has been in the Air Force for 15 years. He has been stationed at McConnell for three years. During his off duty time he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, watching and playing sports, camping and hunting.

Who is the most positive influence in your life and why?
My father was probably the most influential person in my life. He was a hard man to live with, but tried his hardest to make us understand that we only have ourselves to blame for the decisions that we make growing up. He instilled pride and made us work hard for everything we had and wanted. In the long run, it made us respect and appreciate things more.

What would you like to accomplish during your Air Force career?
I would like to make senior master sergeant and become a first sergeant before I retire.

Where is the most interesting place you have traveled and why do you feel that way?
I have traveled to several different countries over my career, but I would have to say, the most interesting place I have been is Germany. My family came from there over 200 years ago and it was interesting to see some of my heritage and also learn that there are over 1,000 Hellwig's in Germany. Not sure if I am related to any though.

What is your favorite book/ movie and why?
I don't really have a favorite book or movie, so I guess anything that has action and destruction would work for me.

If you have the opportunity to meet anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
I am going to be realistic here and pick something that might come true. I have a half sister out there somewhere that I have never met, and I would like to meet her one day.
