350th Air Refueling Squadron Airman earns spotlight performer Published March 3, 2015 By Senior Airman Jarrod Vickers 22nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. -- As a spotlight performer, individuals are chosen by leadership for demonstrating the Air Force's Core Values: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do. Senior Airman Ben Sedlacek, 350th Air Refueling Squadron boom operator, was selected as the spotlight performer for the week of March 1 - 7. Sedlacek, a Gretna, Nebraska native, joined the Air Force in August 2012 and has been a member of Team McConnell since September, 2013. As a boom operator, he passes fuel to other aircraft to enable global reach. When he's not on duty, he enjoys trap shooting and woodworking. "Senior Airman Ben Sedlacek is an exceptional Airman who epitomizes the Air Force core values in everything he does both on and off duty," said Lt. Col. Andrew Martin, 350th Air Refueling Wing director of operations. "He is one of my most dedicated Airmen who I can always count on to safely and successfully accomplish any task given." Who is the most positive influence in your life and why? My father is the most positive influence in my life because he has high morals and is a very dedicated worker. If you could give advice to a new Airman, what would it be and why? My advice to new Airmen would be to study and place emphasis on becoming proficient in your job. What is one goal that you have already accomplished, or would like to accomplish, during your Air Force career? A goal that I would like to accomplish is to one day become an instructor boom operator. Where is the most interesting place you have traveled and why do you feel that way? Doha, Qatar is the most interesting place I've visited because of its cultural differences and western style progression. If you had the opportunity to meet anyone in the world, who would it be and why? I would want to meet the President of the United States. He would be my first choice due to the fact that he is the leader of the best country in the world.
